Puppet guards
In most of the cases, puppets are objects, which cohabit with our privacy and our interior habitation.
It’s astonishing how they can play a completely different role.
Their delicacy, softness and naivety, suddenly turn to be their power.
How can this happen?!
Their power is emphasized by the strong contrast between them and the aggressive frontages.
It sounds strange, but they “guard” a building using only their outlook. Immediately they turn into “puppet guards”. In this case, puppets fight using their own image, which compete with the building.
Hanged on these positions, they become talismans. The owners of these buildings, believe somehow in a negative mystical power of the human eyes.
These people hang the puppets for a “serious” reason, for de-concentrating the viewer’s eye. Somehow they admit that the toys are more attractive than the building itself, even though they pretend esthetics and harmony on their architecture .
So, you get confused about the concept of esthetics and vulgarity. It’s hard to understand if the vulgarity belongs to the frontage or to the way puppets are hanged! It’s hard to understand which image wins the battle of
The installation (puppets covered with concrete), materially connects these concept. In the installation I unify the image and the material of buildings and puppets. This I subjective reaction on the phenomenon.
